Apricots & A Feeling

Yesterday morning started with a ‘feeling’.  A ‘feeling’ that God wanted me to quickly pick some more of the big juicy apricots and fill my freezer.  We have a bumper crop of apricots this year and  the first tree has just ripened with 3 other different trees and varieties still in the process of ripening.

So I hauled out the ladder and picked a whole bunch of delicious apricots…

Cut them in half and pitted them…

And had my wax paper lined trays full and going into the freezer (I freeze them individually and then put them in large zip-lock bags so they don’t freeze as a huge solid chunk that is impossible to work with later)…

I managed to get quite a few apricots into the freezer which we will enjoy over the winter.

Shortly after I got the apricots into the freezer, I realized that it was a good thing I had listened to that ‘feeling’!

We experienced a  freak hailstorm!  I’ve never actually been in a hailstorm with this size hail (Anybody need ice cubes?)…

The hail tore through leaves…

The damage is done and I knew that this morning I would see more evidence of the fruit damage…the apricots are either bruised…

or beaten…

And yesterday morning I had all white vent covers on my motorhome which is parked by the side of my home, today I have a couple new black vents…

Yup, the old ones got smashed to smithereens!  And do you see those little black dots on the motorhome roof?  Those are the gravel bits from my tar and gravel roof that got displaced by the hail stones!

So thankful that God prompted me to take pics and to pick the apricots!

They WERE gorgeous!
